As she kneels

Her eyes are heaven bound

Her lips tremble

She weeps

Her shield battered and bent

her sword, scarred laying by her side

I ask the maid what is your name

Why do you weep?

I hear naught.

With pleading eyes she says unto you

I have failed

So much has gone wrong

The clouds of chaos pass by

And then a light appears and I know

For I am reminded

I must make a decision

I must make a selection

Having done so I go on my journey

I travel a by-way and pass thru a kaleidoscope of color

The tapestry of the human family

Before you they pray

They all plead for America so that she can find her way again

That besides giving of her treasure she will as you have willed

Be the champion of the ravaged and the enslaved

That at long last the questions of color, religion or sex can no longer be

A qualification for leadership

That the prophets of untruths, greed and hatred will be silenced.

That again we shall be a humble and grateful people

Yes Maid I know your name.

I just had to open my eyes, my ears and listen to my heart
