As I sit by the water’s edge

The canopy above

Shields me from the heat of the day

Tho I am drowsy

I hear the syncopation of the rivers gurgle

As it wends its way to the sea

Fish are sipping flies that abound on the waters film

There are no noises

Neither by human or beast

Just those from a trout stream in the spring

My eyes close and I rest

In time I awaken

A new hatch has emerged

When I focus upon the water

I see my fly fisher sons

They call me to join them

To leave my worries and frailties behind

Now I also fish

I am at peace

With nature and man
